Popular Nigerian Afrobeats artiste, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has denied ever participating in the ongoing #EndSARS protest.

He made the statement at the start of his scheduled meeting with the Frank Mba, the Spokesperson of the NPF at his office in Abuja.

During the meeting, Davido denied playing any active role in the protest as he explained that he was in Abuja because of his fans.

The ‘Blow My Mind’ crooner had insisted that he didn’t want to have the meeting behind close doors but Frank Mba, the Spokesperson of the NPF said;

"How can you come here for a closed-door meeting, when you were protesting yesterday and you identified with the protesters?”

Davido responded "I did not protest, I was not there to protest. I was there to calm things down because the protesters are my fans.”

Fans have blasted the singer for not owning up to his actions.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has said the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is only a first step to more reforms set to take place within the police force and other security agencies.

The president made the comment at the launch of the Presidential Youth Empowerement Scheme (P-YES) which is aimed at creating about 774, 000 jobs across the Local Government Areas (LGAS) of the country.

In a short message released via his official Twitter handle, the president indicated he has directed authorities to ensure the culprits responsible for the misconduct or wrongful acts must face the full rigors of the law.

"I will like to use this opportunity to not the recent genuine concerns an agitations by Nigerians about the excseeive use of force and in some cases extra-juducial killings and wrongful conduct of the men of the Nigerian Police Force."
