Cuppy defies coronavirus, flies to SA

Nigerian singer and Producer, Ifeoluwa Otedola also known as DJ Cuppy has flown to South Africa despite the confirmation of the deadly virus in South Africa.

While MyNigeria.com thinks this move is brave, it is quite a scary one in case the spread is not well contained in the Xhosa nation.

Besides Cuppy could be quarantined for all we care and her yet-to-be-released EP could hang in the balance.

Just this morning, a case of the deadly virus was detected in the country’s eastern Kwa-Zulu Natal province.

The patient and his wife were part of a group of 10 people who returned to South Africa from Italy on March 1.

Two days later, on March 3, he consulted a private general practitioner with a fever, headache, sore throat and a cough.

“This morning,… the National Institute for Communicable Diseases confirmed that a suspected case of COVID-19 has tested positive,” Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said in a statement.

However, Mkhize believes that the health system in South Africa will be tested by the Xhosa nation's index case.

He said that South Africa was working with the WHO and other institutions to help diagnose the virus, called COVID-19, across Africa.

More than 90,000 people have been infected and over 3,000 killed worldwide since the virus first emerged in China in December.

This is not Cuppy's first attempt to fly into South Africa in the last two weeks.

Netflix flew her in on February 29th, 2020 to DJ for the premiere of Queen Sono, a South African crime drama web television series created by Kagiso Lediga that first aired on Netflix on February 28, 2020.
