Cristiano Ronaldo's brace saved Italian champions Juventus from a back to back defeat in the Serie Aas they played a 2-2 draw against Atalanta in Turin on Saturday night.

Juventus who suffered a shocking 4-2 loss to Milan on Tuesday went behind as Duvan Zapata put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute.

Although the visitors had much of the ball, they fell short to a handball which allowed Ronaldo to draw the home side level on the 50th minute.

The game opened up, with Atalanta regaining the lead in the 81st minute when Luis Muriel sent a pass across the face of the penalty area to Ruslan Malinovskyi.

Atalanta were on course for the 10th successive win which would take them second and six points behind Juve but lightning struck a second time for Atalanta when Gonzalo Higuain got his foot to a corner kick and deflected the ball onto Muriel’s hand.

Ronaldo converted in the 90th minute to secure a point for the Old Lady.

The draw helped the defending champions to move closer to a ninth successive Serie A title as Ronaldo puts his name on the scoring sheet for a sixth consecutive game.

The Portuguese forward took his league tally to 28 goals this season as Juventus went eight points clear of second-placed Lazio with six matches to play.
