Real Madrid took all three points during Saturday's Madrid derby as they beat rivals Atletico 1-0.

It was double celebration, however, for Zidane's men, particularly club captain, Sergio Ramos, who reached his derby milestone, equalling the all-time derby appearances record.

During his 15 seasons as a madridista, the captain has played against Atlético de Madrid 42 times, to move to the top of the list alongside Gento and Sanchís.

Ramos' derbies have come across five competitions: LaLiga (25), the Copa del Rey (7), the Champions League (6), the Spanish Super Cup (3) and the European Super Cup (1). The centre-back has also made a mark on the historic fixture with his goal-scoring contributions. He netted in both Champions League finals between the two sides, which saw Real Madrid clinch La Décima and La Undécima. He has also found the net twice in the Copa del Rey (2), once in LaLiga and again in the European Super Cup.

The madridista with the fifth most LaLiga games As well as matching the record for derbies, Sergio Ramos has become the madridista to have played the fifth most LaLiga games in Real Madrid history (439), level with Fernando Hierro. Ahead of them are legends such as Santillana (461), Casillas (510), Sanchís (523) and Raúl (550).

Meanwhile, Real move six points away from defending champions, Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table after Karim Benzema's 56th minute goal settled the derby. Barcelona still have a game at hand.

Sergio was awed by achievement and he expressed his excitement in the video below:
