Defending Premier League champions, Manchester City, have filed a formal appeal against the two-year ban from European competitions at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Recall that Mynigeria.com reported that UEFA hammered the Citizens with a two-year ban from the Champions and Europa Leagues and fined them €30m (£25m) after they were found to have seriously misled European football’s governing body and broken financial fair play rules.

City were found guilty by Uefa’s club financial control body (CFCB) of having falsely inflated their sponsorship revenues, when they made submissions for the FFP compliance process. The guilty finding follows an investigation sparked by the publication of “leaked” emails and documents by the German magazine Der Spiegel in November 2018.

Following the ban, the club released an official statement, expressing their disappointment and vowed to appeal the ban.
