Inter Milan hit a roadblock in their quest to challenge for the Italian Serie A title on Sunday after a 2-2 draw away to Roma.

Second-placed Inter Milan, who had been gaining ground on Juve over the last 10 days, missed the chance to go three points closer to the Old Lady.

They are now five points behind the Turin side, who host Lazio on Monday with four matches to play.

Inter took the lead with Stefan De Vrij's goa in the 15th minute but got stunned twice in the (45+1) minute of the first half and the 55th as Roma comeback from the deficit to take the lead through Leonardo Spinazzola and
Henrikh Mkhitaryan respectively.

Both sides would eventually share the spoils when Romelu Lukaku converted a spot kick in the 88th minute.

“On the equaliser, there was a foul on Lautaro who was clipped on the heel,” said Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte.

His side however made mathematically sure of a UEFA Champions League place next season by snatching a share of the points with fifth-placed Roma.

“But I don’t blame the referees —– there was a mistake here but they don’t deserve to be attacked for it.”
