I never criticized Mane, Salah - Adebayor responds

Togolese international, Emmanuel Adebayor, has said that he never made any bad comments about Senegal's Sadio Mane and Egypt's Mohamed Salah.

According to reports, the ex-Real Madrid star was said to have taken a dig at Mane and Sala because he was unhappy with players winning the CAF Player Of The Year award when not playing in the continent.

Salah picked up the award in 2017 and 2018 before Mane became the latest player to win the prestigious accolade last year.

In addition, Adebayor reportedly criticised Africa’s football governing body, the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“My attention was recently drawn to comments, shared by certain media on social networks, made on CAF and on my colleagues Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane,” Adebayor said in a statement on Twitter.

“I would just say that these statements are not mine. I have not granted any media interviews. Always be careful not to post false information.”

The 36-years-old who is currently signed to Paraguayan Club Olimpia enjoyed a fine spell at Arsenal, scoring 46 goals in 104 apps.

He won the CAF Player Of The Year award in 2008 and currently holds the record for Togo's all-time top goalscorer with 32 goals.
