Anthony Joshua has disclosed that he wasnt aware of the existence of the controversial Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) until issues pertaining to the unit became a dormant point of conversation.

The British born two-time world boxing champion is of Nigerian descent as his parents are of the Yoruba tribe.

Joshua who currently holds the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles was first seen in Nigeria in 2019 when he visited his ancestral home Sagamu, Ogun state.

With his middle name as ‘Oluwafemi’, Joshua melted the hearts of many Nigerians when he was seen trying hard to recite the Nigerian national anthem.

He also recently celebrated Nigeria’s 60th independence after he was seen preparing local meal while King Sunny Ade's music revved the background.

Joshua has continued to identify with the country, and as Nigerian youths take to the streets to protest police brutality and a call for the displacement of the police unit SARS, the boxer says he was not aware of a controversial police set-up.

He said on his Insta Story: "I wasn’t aware of SARS until it became a dormant point of conversation in the community.I’m learning about it and I’ve looked at organisations and people who can work with the government to change things for the better."Recall that he once took a swipe at female celebrities while cautioning his followers on social media as regards the kinds of things they see as priorities and what they spend money on.

The Brit boxer in his post hinted that most female celebrities prefer to spend heavily on material things rather than having money for other important purposes.

According to him, he prefers using a plastic bag with an amount of £5000 (about N2.4million) in it than using a Louis Vuiton bag with an amount of £100 (about N50,000) in it.
