Pastor Adeboye Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has said that he supports the continued lockdown on worship centers by the government due to COVID-19.

Delivering a sermon virtually at the July Holy Ghost Service of the church titled: ‘Let there be light 7’, Adeboye said his church will comply with the lockdown as long as it leads to greater achievement.

He advised his listeners to see the lockdown as a form of blessing while citing examples of people who turned out better after a period of lockdown.

He said, that “if people know that this lockdown will lead to greater achievement and prosperity, they will embrace it with joy.”

The clergyman cited an instance involving David who was lockdown in the Cave of Adullam with 400 men but later became king. Also the case of Joseph who became ruler in Egypt after getting locked in prison.

Adeboye added that God needs to lock some people down in order to fulfill his purpose in their life.

He enthused: “God has been closer to someone more in this lockdown than ever.”
