*Okonjo Iweala apologizes after sharing fake picture online*

Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has apologized for using the wrong picture to describe how the distribution of palliative to cushion the effect of coronavirus should be done by the government.

In praising the effort of the Rwandan government in the way they distributed the palliative given to the people, Iweala had shared a picture from Rwanda.

She was quickly alerted that the picture she shared which showed social distancing in practice was from Gambia and not from Rwanda as she claimed.

Issuing an apology, Iweala stated that the point she was making with the picture is to show the "safe way of handling food distribution".

Her tweet read: “Thanks to those who have drawn my attention to the food distribution picture I tweeted earlier today. A friend sent it to me that it’s from Rwanda.

“Whether Gambia or Rwanda, the point I want us to focus on is that it is a safe way of handling food distribution.”
