Fuel scarcity fears: 2 billion litres of petrol in stock - NNPC

2 billion litres of petrol in stock 2 billion litres of petrol in stock

Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured motorists of availability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) aka petrol.

He revealed that NNPC has more than 60 days sufficiency of petrol in its depots across the country.

In a statement on Wednesday by Kennie Obateru, General Manager, Public Affairs, Kyari attributed the queues in some petrol stations to the disruption of the free flow of vehicular movement occasioned by curfews and restrictions in states, particularly Lagos.

The GMD advised Nigerians not to engage in panic-buying of petroleum products, assuring that NNPC has over 2 billion litres of petrol in stock.

“The disruptions or curtailment of free flow of vehicular movement occasioned by the ‘End SARS Protests’ and the attendant curfews, restrictions, and vandalism, particularly in Lagos obviously affected petroleum products movement and distribution.

“With the easing of the curfews and restrictions of movement by various state governors, normalcy is expected to return to the petroleum products supply chain in the next couple of days,” Kyari promised.

He expressed NNPC’s commitment to a zero-fuel queue scenario and reiterated that current measures would guarantee energy security in Nigeria.
