Emir of Kano: Governor has no right to detain Sanusi - Apostle Suleman

Apostle Suleman Apostle Suleman

Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries has spoken against the detention of Muhammadu Sanusi II by the Kano State Government.

Sanusi was dethroned by the Kano State Government on Monday and exiled to Nasarawa State after Aminu Ado Bayero was announced as the new Emir of Kano.

An aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said that Sanusi would remain under house arrest and won't be able to receive visitors.

Reacting to the development, Apostle Suleman stated that Governor Ganduje who has the right to dethrone a monarch in his State doesn't have the right to detain anyone who hasn't committed a crime.

He wrote: “I can understand the dethronement of the former emir of kano.

“What I don’t understand is the detention, over what? A governor has right to depose a traditional ruler but has no right to detain anyone who has not committed an offence. Disrespecting a governor is not a criminal offence.”
