Delta State community bans sale and consumption of beef over herdsmen killing

Uwheru kingdom in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State has banned the sale and consumption of beef following the death of ten farmers killed by herdsmen.

A native of Uwheru, the Delta State Commissioner for Education, Professor Patrick Muoboghare, described the ban as one which will force herdsmen out of the kingdom.

Concerning the children of victims killed during the attack, he said the community leaders have promised to fund their education up to university level.

“The entire people of Uwheru community appreciate and thank the Governor for his timely intervention in preventing the blood bath that would have happened but for the governor’s intervention because the army came prepared."

Confirming the ban on sale and consumption of beef, the Chairman of Agadama community, Sunday Iniovogoma said:

“Such a person will equally be banished from the communities or made to pay a particular amount as fine depending on the gravity of the offence.”
