Coronavirus: Benue bans mid-term breaks, visiting days in schools

Benue state government has placed a ban on mid-term breaks and visiting days for students of all boarding schools as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in schools across the state.

According to the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Dennis Ityavyar, the ban was placed to ensure coronavirus safety protocol was strictly adhered.

Adding that, it was in the best interest of both parents and students.


He encouraged parents to continue to enforce the measures put in place by the government in other to protect their wards.

The Commissioner also, called on the principals of the schools to ensure all protocols are observed.

He warned that sanctions will be meted out at any school that violates the safety protocols.

In a publication sighted on today.ng, Prof. Ityavyar advised that COVID-19 clubs be established in all schools in the state to educate students and teachers on all issues concerning the virus.

The Ministry of Education, he said, would step up monitoring of all schools in the state to ensure all laid down guidelines are strictly observed in the schools.
