Buhari recommends Lamido Yuguda as SEC DG, nominates three others for commissioners

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has recommended t the Senate, the appointment of Lamido Yuguda as the new Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ezrel Tabiowo, Special Assistant on Press to Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, in a statement on Tuesday, also added that the president nominated Reginald Karawusa, Ibrahim Boyi and Obisan Joseph for full-time Commissioners.

According to him, the President’s letter read in part, “Pursuant to Section 3 and 5(1) of the Investment and Securities Act 2007, I write to request for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of the following four nominees as Director-General and Commissioners of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Their CVs are attached herewith.”

He said his principal read the letter during plenary on Tuesday.

The Commission is presently headed by Mary Uduk in an acting capacity.

Further confirmation was given by Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant on New Media to the president, on his official Twitter account.

"President Buhari has requested the Senate to confirm Lamido Yuguda as new DG of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and also sought confirmation of 3 nominees (Reginald C. Karausa, Ibrahim D. Boyi & Obi Joseph) as commissioners of the Commission," he Tweeted"
