The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has broken silence on the way he's now addressed by a national daily PUNCH.

In protest against the lack of respect for the rule of law displayed by the Buhari regime, PUNCH issued an editorial which states that the President will henceforth be addressed by his military title.

Excerpt from an interview as shared by Bashir Ahmad, an aide to the President, sees Buhari opening up on how he feels about the editorial by PUNCH.

President Buhari was asked if it worried him "that PUNCH took a stand" to address him as “Major General (rtd)” instead of “President”; and to address his government as “regime”.

He answered saying, "am I not a rtd Major General of the Nigerian Army? I didn’t just pick the rank in the streets, I earned it".
